SUPER-7 VST synthesizer

CFA Sound Super-7

SUPER-7 is a focused, no-nonsense freeware synthesizer built around one of electronic music’s most iconic sounds: the Roland JP-8000/8080 Supersaw.

Rather than trying to be a do-it-all workstation, SUPER-7 zeroes in on what producers actually want from this waveform: width, power, and that unmistakable stacked oscillator movement that defined trance, hard dance and early EDM.

Lightweight, CPU-friendly and deliberately simple, it delivers classic supersaw energy without distractions, making it a handy specialist tool in any synth arsenal.

System Requirements:

Classic Supersaw, Stripped to the Core

At the heart of SUPER-7 is a single emulated supersaw oscillator, modelled closely on the JP-8000/8080 design. While it may not be a component-level clone, the character is immediately familiar: wide detuned stacks, strong mid presence and a smooth top end that cuts through dense mixes.

With up to 32 voices of polyphony available, it handles huge chord stacks and layered leads without falling apart.

The signal path is intentionally minimal. A classic 4-pole low-pass filter shapes the raw oscillator tone, while flexible, shapeable envelopes allow you to dial in tight plucks, swelling pads or long, euphoric builds.

This simplicity keeps programming fast and musical, especially when you just want to get an idea down without fighting complexity.

Lightweight Design for Fast Workflows

SUPER-7 was designed as a slim synth with efficiency in mind. CPU usage stays low even at higher polyphony counts, making it suitable for older systems or large projects where heavyweight synths would be overkill.

The interface is clean and approachable, with everything laid out clearly so you can focus on sound rather than signal routing.

Although limited to 32-bit VST on Windows, SUPER-7 still earns its place as a dedicated supersaw generator. It works particularly well as a layering synth alongside more complex instruments, adding instant width and energy where tracks need lift.

Key Features:

A dedicated supersaw synthesizer built for classic dance sounds and fast results.

FAQ

SUPER-7 shines in trance, hard dance, EDM, synthwave and any genre that relies on wide, detuned supersaw chords and leads.

Not really. It is best viewed as a specialist tool rather than an all-purpose synthesizer, perfect for layering or quick supersaw duties.

It is not a 100% circuit-accurate emulation, but it gets very close in tone and behaviour, especially in a mix.

No. Even with high voice counts, it remains relatively light on CPU compared to modern supersaw-heavy synths.

It is a 32-bit VST for Windows. Some users run it via bridges like jBridge, but official compatibility is not guaranteed.
