Free. Immersive. Dystopian. Meet Spectra, the latest Soundbox instrument from ambient architect S1gns of L1fe. From haunting drones to lush, cinematic atmospheres, this MPE-ready sampler is a playground for producers who want their music to feel like a living, breathing landscape.
Developed in collaboration with Audiomodern, Spectra runs inside the free Soundbox engine and includes 30 fully unlocked presets designed for ambient producers and sound designers.
The library spans rumbling low-end drones, shimmering metallic atmospheres, abstract effects, and playable evolving textures suited for cinematic scoring and experimental electronica.
Each preset can use up to four layers, allowing users to blend, pan, mute, and automate elements independently. The result is far more than a static preset library.
Spectra encourages movement and performance-based shaping, particularly when combined with Soundbox’s modulation and vector tools.
At the core of Spectra is Soundbox’s Vector X/Y engine, enabling real-time blending between layers for evolving morphs and dynamic transitions.
Each layer includes dedicated effects such as delay, EQ, filter, and reverb, alongside modulation options and LFO control.
The engine is MPE-compatible, making Spectra particularly expressive when paired with modern MIDI controllers. While Spectra is free, it remains fully editable within Soundbox, offering meaningful customization without requiring additional purchases.
