Phase Filtering & Modulation
At its core, Phaser works by filtering the input signal to create moving peaks and troughs across the frequency spectrum. The Cutoff control shifts these notches up and down, while Rate and Depth define how quickly and how far the modulation travels. This gives you precise control over everything from gentle shimmer to dramatic, swirling motion.
The Order parameter increases the number of filter stages, intensifying the effect by adding more notches and resonance points. Lower orders stay subtle and smooth, while higher values push the phaser into bold, unmistakable territory. It’s a simple but effective way to scale the effect without changing its core character.
Stereo Spread & Mix Control
The Spread knob offsets the modulation phase between the left and right channels, introducing stereo width without resorting to chorus-style detuning. This makes the phaser particularly effective on pads, synths, and buses where controlled stereo movement is desirable.
A straightforward Mix control allows easy parallel-style blending, letting you dial in just enough phasing to animate a sound without overwhelming it. The result is a phaser that behaves predictably and stays mix-friendly across a wide range of material.
